Duties include:

Estimating flooring quantities needed for projects bidding using Callidus estimating software system; Reading specifications for floorcovering bids and using for estimates/take offs; reviewing estimates and specifications with sales staff before bidding; searching bid databases/websites for upcoming bids and reviewing with the manager regularly; plotting/printing plans as needed; manual estimates occasionally as needed, physical measuring as needed.

Requirements:

PROJECT ASSISTANT/ESTIMATOR – Seattle

Summary/Objectives

Under the direct supervision of the Branch Manager, this position will provide material take offs, estimates, and quotes for floorcovering projects.  In addition, the position will provide sales/operations assistance and support.   This position is to be a dynamic asset to a high-volume sales team and have a thorough working knowledge of Great Floors policies and procedures, and an understanding of each job in which they are assisting is vital to a perfect finished product. 

Job Description:

  • Interpret architectural drawings to quote various flooring finishes (wood, ceramic tile, vinyl, carpet).
  • Analyze job specifications, blueprints, and supporting documents.
  • Determine and calculate quantities of materials specified for projects.
  • Generate quotes for customer delivery.
  • Communicate with vendors, contractors, and reps for material knowledge and pricing.
  • Perform various accounting, invoicing, and tracking tasks.
  • Coordinate and schedule installation and punch items.
  • Assist customers with material recommendations and selections.

Job Requirements:

  • Candidate must be able to read architectural drawings understanding floor plans, elevations, cross sections, and specifications and MUST be able to interpret those drawings.
  • Knowledge of Measure software a plus.
  • Must excel in a dynamic fast-paced work environment.
  • Proficient computer skills including Outlook, Word, Excel, and electronic database documentation.

    3.    Continually take the pulse of clients through informal telephone conversations, lunch meetings, industry events and formal customer satisfaction surveys. Ensure a quick and proper response to all customer complaints and requests.
    4.    Ensure that all branch personnel perform their job duties in a safe manner and that they take all reasonable precautions to avoid work-related accidents. Hold regular and frequent safety discussions and meetings to continually reinforce the safety message.
    5.    Ensure that all branch personnel understand the overall company objectives as well as their individual departmental objectives and that they work together to achieve the stated objectives. The branch manager must be available to help resolve conflicting objectives and reinforce continuously respectful communication between all departments. ​

Master’s in business administration.

Flooring and/or construction industry knowledge.
