Carpet Exchange

Great Floors originated in the late 1960s shortly after Keith and Marge Chadderdon moved to North Idaho and Keith began peddling carpet from the trunk of his car. After seven or eight years of traveling the Northwest, from Alaska and Washington State to the plains of Montana and Wyoming, the Chadderdons opened a small store on a desolate strip of highway north of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Called Carpet Center, the business flourished as the city grew to surround the store and Highway 95 developed as the state's major north-south thoroughfare.

Through acquisitions and expansion the company developed and today includes
15 retail showrooms in Washington and Idaho, plus four commercial centers,
one in the Greater Seattle market (Kent), one in Spokane (Eastern
Washington/North Idaho), one in Yakima to service the Central Washington
region and one in Boise for the Southern Idaho market. Great Floors,
recently rated among the top specialty flooring retailer in America by Floor
Covering Weekly, is owned by Doug Chadderdon (Keith and Marge's son), Ken
Chadderdon (Doug's cousin) and Jim McGee.
